The Banqueting Department of Hilton Amsterdam has the expertise and range of venues to bring every event to life, from a small business meeting to a big wedding or reception.  Hilton Amsterdam offers 21 versatile boardrooms and meeting rooms, among which a spacious Ballroom that can accommodate up to 500 guests and offers a perfect venue for conferences and banquets.

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Banqueting Operations Shift Leader who is enthusiastic, flexible and has a professional and caring attitude towards guests and colleagues alike.  You have a commitment to delivering exceptional levels of service to our guests and bring your passion and energy to our banqueting team.  Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
  • Ensuring guest satisfaction during events
  • Being able to operationally run small events independently from start to finish
  • In charge of running a bigger event and pro-actively work together with your team to make the event a success. You are responsible for guiding your team members and brief them on the event
  • Events can vary from a conference with a buffet lunch and coffee breaks to a 3-course served dinner and even as far as some special and high profile events like weddings, bar/bat mitzwas, internally marketed events like Easter and Christmas Brunches and our infamous Haring Party (up to 1000 guests)
  • In charge of the full planning of an evening shift operationally, where you, together with your team, set up the meeting rooms for the next day and be responsible for the final check
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the shift in the Event Operations department
  • Deal and action any guest complaints and ensure that the Event Operations Supervisor is informed about all complaints, comments and actions taken
  • Ensure that the Meeting and Conference Centre and all public spaces and equipment are clean at all times
  • Order all meeting supplies, food and beverages and make sure they are in line with par levels, as well as using the FIFO system
  • To follow trainings as required by the Event Operations Manager and the demand of the business, including periodic fire and safety trainings
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislations
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
 
Skills and competencies

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a banqueting department
  • Outstanding organizational, planning and communication skills
  • You are committed to delivering high levels of guest service

  • You have a creative and innovative approach to your work and an eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills required in English and Dutch
  • Good computer skills and experience with hotel systems
  • You are available both during the week and the weekend for early and late shifts
