For the Kimpton De Witt Hotel in Amsterdam we are looking for an Assistant Executive Housekeeper.
WHAT WILL I ACTUALLY BE DOING?
You’re efficient, meticulous by nature, passionate, creative, focused and driven about making every guest’s experience ‘ridiculously personal’, making their stay unforgettable, in all the right ways.
You can succeed in a fast-paced, guest-focused, no two days the same environment, and we will offer you plenty of opportunities to find your niche and grow.
You’ll be working with a friendly, motivated team who you will lead with your distinctive style and work with them to develop their full potential and ensure everyone provides genuine heartfelt care to our guests.
Regarding the role, it’s as the job title says really, you are responsible for keeping our ‘house’ clean and tidy. You are responsible, together with the Executive Housekeeper, for the whole team to ensure the ultimate comfort for our guests.
You will need to use your great communication skills and build strong relationships with the other teams to ensure our guests stay is seamless and effortless.
Besides, you will use all your creativity to extensively decorate our hotel year-round during all holiday festivities by using floral arrangements and seasonal decoration. You will set up social hours and control the design of the hotel.
It’s a physical role and although there are the usual meetings and briefings, you will be on your feet most of the day out and about in the hotel chatting with our guests, your team, and checking the rooms to perfection, so fitness will be key for you, although reasonable adjustments will be made where we can. We would love it if you were multi-lingual, but it’s not essential.
HOW DO I WOW MY GUESTS?
As a key assistant manager within the hotel you are responsible for knowing your guests and their preferences. You need to ensure you and your team provide the ‘wow’ factor to all of them when they enter the hotel, move through the hotel and especially their room. You need to ensure they receive a heartfelt welcome and make sure everything is just right and exceeds their expectations. It’s down to you to bring that personal touch to their stay.
You will interact with guests throughout the day, making sure they have everything they need. We all do it, we forget things when we pack or leave things behind, so you and your team will be on hand to step in and help.
Yes we have standards and procedures that everyone in the team has to follow, but it’s down to you to make their stay special and memorable.
HOW DO I SHOW I GENUINELY CARE ABOUT MY COLLEAGUES?
Success comes from teamwork so you need to ensure you have the best team. You will recruit people that display the qualities you pride yourself in. They too will be passionate, have great personalities, show their individuality and creativity.
You need to foster a positive work environment for all your team and ensure they display their personalities and creativity, whilst adhering to the standards.
You will provide clear communication with all your team and respect them all as individuals. We’re all a bit different, but that’s why we would like you here, we love your individuality.

You need to promote a positive work environment for all of them, as well as ensuring you’ve covered all the legal aspects.
HOW DO I DRIVE FINANCIAL RETURNS FOR OUR OWNERS?
Our owners invest and trust in us and we keep them happy by providing positive returns on their investment and reputations.
You will maximize the financial performance of the hotel by providing the highest possible quality of guest experience through your team providing an efficient and friendly service. Also by working closely with Front Office and Reservations teams so that at any time you know who is staying and how you can make their stay ridiculously personal.
You need to truly know your guests, their names, their preferences, their individual needs, their business needs, everything about them.
You need to ensure everything in your area is in working order by protecting and enhancing the value of all hotel assets through appropriate programs in maintenance and security. You’ll keep up to date with everything through your team and also checking the Log Book daily.
There’s a lot of chemicals and health and safety aspects of your role, so you need to make sure you are on top of all of this regarding your knowledge and training for all your team.
You need to have an understanding of where all the money comes from in your hotel and where it is spent. You will work with your Maintenance colleagues to ensure the rooms are in pristine condition. Also to work closely with the Purchasing team to ensure you have the best contracts in place and that any concerns are shared and dealt with.
You’ll also need to pull on your planning skills and, in communication with other departments, schedule the deep clean activities for all rooms, meeting rooms and public areas.
You need to continually review what’s working and what’s not working within your area and drive improvements and make changes as and when they are needed.
You also need to be known and seen within the local community and local industries to promote the hotel and drive business.
Bring your creativity into your role by sharing any ideas that you have to make things even better.
